Being creative together in the kitchen is a great way to spend time with your kids come Christmastime. Here are some fun Christmas snacks you can make with your preschooler this holiday season.
Christmas tree brownies
Mix a batch of brownie batter and spread it out onto a cookie sheet, so that the brownie dough is half the thickness of regular brownies. (Make sure you bake it for less time so that it doesn’t burn!) Once your sheet pan brownie has cooled a bit, cut it into triangles using a cookie cutter. Have your preschooler help you drizzle a zigzag pattern of green frosting on each one, to make them look like Christmas trees. Put the finishing touches on each tree by using sprinkles for the lights, small pieces of candy for the ornaments, and a short stick of candy cane sticking out of the base for the trunk.
Reindeer sandwich
Make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Then, cut them into hearts by pressing a heart-shaped cookie cutter into the center of each sandwich. Insert two pretzels into the top two sides of the heart to look like antlers. Then, create the reindeer’s face by gently pressing two chocolate chips and a red m&m into the top to look like eyes and a nose.
Snowmen on sticks
Slice several bananas until you have a lot of circular slices. Then thread three in a row onto each skewer, so that it looks like you have a bunch of snowmen on sticks. Then, slice the green leaves off of some strawberries and thread one onto each skewer as well, followed by a grape, so that it looks like the snowmen have red hats with green pom poms. Add eyes and buttons using raisins and use small slivers of carrots for the noses.
